It was love at first sight for these two.....even with the silly headshade Sparkle has to wear from her recent ear surgery!

Dalmatian Rescue of Tampa Bay:
Today I took Sadie (previously known as Sparkles) to the vet and had her stitches removed. She is doing great and I love her!! Thank you all so much. I cannot tell you how happy she makes me. It has been almost 1 1/2 years since Red passed away and I wondered if I would ever want another dog. But I certainly missed the companionship these furry friends bring. She will be a very important member of my family. Again, thank you all so much. You will be hearing from me in the future too. What you all do is very admirable. Everyone I have dealt with has been so very nice and shown amazing concern for these wonderful animals. It is such a shame that there aren't more people as caring and giving in this world as you people are.

UPDATE: January 20, 2007

Sparkles is sending big puppy mooches to alot of people right now. First one goes to Dr. Tom Hong who successfully fixed up her hurting ear through surgery. Sparkles is now back home and on the mend being spoiled once again by Foster Dad Dale. Dale says she is one tough cookie and continues to be as sweet as can be. She's going to make some lucky person a great spotted playmate. To make even great news better, thanks to the generousity of Chris D., Pat H., Rich N. and Merna F., (and our original contributors Tara & Doug) we are now able to pay off her surgery bill 100%!!! Hope you guys don't mind Sparkles sending you those big sloppy dog kisses....you all deserve it! So thank you all very much again. Now her next dream is to find her forever home soon. We've found wishes really do come true Sparkles!

Below is an email we just received from Jacksonville Animal Care & Control:

We are seeking rescue for an extremely sweet Dalmatian. Sparkles came into the shelter as a stray in early November. She was already spayed and negative for heartworms. During her workup we noticed she has a very bad ear infection. We began treating her ear conservatively and have since progressed to more aggressive treatment. Her ear has cleared up some but not to the extent that would make her be able to be adopted out by us. We do not have the resources to pursue any other treatments for her. She is the sweetest Dalmatian I have ever met. She loves everyone and thrives on attention. She knows sit, shake and down and just loves to be petted. She is great with other dogs except at feeding time where she needs to be separated. I have met quite a few Dalmatians in my time and she is just the sweetest I have ever met. We would love for her to have a chance at rescue. She is just under 5 years old.

Update: Thanks to new foster Dad Dale, Sparkles is now safely in our care. Our longtime wonderful vet, Dr. Tom Hong, has agreed to do Sparkles' badly needed ear surgery for $400 (normally $600-700) which will include all medications and follow-up care. Longtime DRTB friends and supporters Tara & Doug Bravata have promised $200 for Sparkles. We still need to raise the other $200. Please consider donating to Sparkles ear surgery fund....we promise she is more than worth it!
